What we do

Our conversion work is split into four services, and each has its own page with detailed guide prices:

  • Line-outs and insulation: two-stage insulation, ply lining, carpeted walls and roof, cladding, flooring and thermal curtains.

  • Electrical and leisure systems: lithium leisure batteries, Victron DC-DC charging, 240V hook-up and solar panel kits.

  • Cabinetry: kitchen units with solid oak worktops, overhead lockers, fixed beds, garage panels, bulkheads and tables.

  • External fittings: side, barn-door and tailgate windows, skylights, roof fans, reversing cameras and awning lights.

You can combine these into a complete build or add them one at a time as your budget allows.

Why build with a local workshop

Using a workshop near you makes a conversion easier from start to finish. You can see your van mid-build, talk through changes face to face, and come back to us if something needs adjusting after you've used it. We're based in Kendal, so we're easy to reach from across Cumbria, the Lake District and the North West, and the M6 brings us within reach of much further afield.

We also run our own hire campervan, Fiordline One, so we know what holds up on real trips. It shows in the details: lighting where you need it at night, storage that stays shut on bumpy lanes and electrics that keep the fridge running when you're away from hook-up.

What's included

Every guide price on our service pages includes labour. Where materials such as adhesive, primer, trims, fixings, cable and consumables are needed, they're listed in the package. Nothing is hidden in the small print: if an item isn't listed in a package, we'll show it as a separate line on your quote. The prices are a guide because cable runs, materials and vehicle differences can change the final figure slightly. We'll confirm the exact cost in your quote before any work starts.

Vans we work on

Our guide prices are set out by van size:

  • Micro campers: Nissan NV200, Citroën Berlingo, Fiat Doblo

  • Mid-size vans: VW Caddy, VW Transporter, Ford Transit Custom, including long-wheelbase versions

  • Large panel vans: Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, VW Crafter, Vauxhall Movano

The XL prices are based on an L2H2 Boxer with a 3.2m load length, and longer vans are priced per extra metre. We take on all vans, so if yours isn't on this list, get in touch and we'll price the work for you.

How the process works

  1. Consultation. Tell us about your van and how you plan to use it, by phone or with an appointment at our Kendal workshop (appointments on request).

  2. Specification. Together we choose the packages and any bespoke elements, such as layout, finishes and power needs.

  3. Quote. We send a written quote based on the guide prices and your exact spec.

  4. Build. Your van comes into the workshop for the agreed work.

  5. Handover. We walk you through everything we've fitted, especially the electrics, before you drive away.

Lead times

How long a build takes depends on the work. A single window or skylight is much quicker than a full line-out, electrics and kitchen. Full builds are normally booked about two months in advance, and smaller jobs around two to four weeks. We'll give you a start date and an expected finish date with your quote.

How pricing works

Each service page lists fixed guide prices for each package, with labour included. For example, a standard line-out for a Transporter or Transit Custom starts at £1,150, a 100Ah lithium 12V system is £1,450 and a kitchen unit with a solid oak worktop is £2,450. Larger vans are priced by load length, and options such as stained or painted cladding, LED strips or a tiled splashback are listed as clear add-ons. For anything bespoke, we'll quote it separately.

Because each package is priced on its own, you can see exactly where your budget goes and decide what matters most. Some customers start with a line-out and electrics, use the van for a season and then come back for a kitchen and windows. Others book the whole conversion in one go. Either way works, and we'll point out any work that's cheaper or neater to do at the same time, such as running

cables before the walls are lined.

Payment usually starts with a deposit of around 40–50% paid before your build starts, to cover materials. On smaller jobs the balance is due on completion. For a full conversion we take partial payments at the end of each month, with the final payment when the work is finished.
